Volunteer Coordinator

CHAT values volunteer satisfaction and retention as an integral part of how we work. The volunteer coordinator is responsible for recruiting, reviewing applications, interviewing, supporting, and training volunteers. The volunteer coordinator is responsible for recruiting, reviewing applications, interviewing, supporting, and training volunteers, as well as being responsible for tracking volunteer hours to report in-kind donations.


Other volunteer coordinator duties and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate with communications and fundraising committees

  • Being a liaison between staff and volunteers especially in shared spaces to support residents

  • Coordinate with staff to assign volunteers to support specific needs and projects

  • Bring in training opportunities for volunteers to further their skill set

  • Create a structure for volunteer coordination and integration with staff.

  • Assess and define volunteer coordination needs and duties based on capacity Core competencies

  • Build relationships: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.

  • Communicate effectively: Speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.

  • Create and innovate: Develop new and unique ways to improve operations of the organization and create new opportunities with a solution focused approach.

  •  Foster teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness with an appreciation of CHAT’s unique participatory culture.

  • Organize: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information, and activities.

  • Solve Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or seek any necessary guidance to resolve problems effectively.


Qualifications: BA, AA from an accredited institution, experience coordinating volunteers, experience with vulnerable populations Familiar with community outreach.


Compensation: $22-24 per hour @ 20-30 hours per week
