We never stop creating affordable housing options for folks in Chico.
Greetings, to our wonderful supporters!
This time of year brings with it new life and new beginnings. I'm reminded of this as I see the first flowers of the season blossom. Vibrant daffodils, irises and poppies are appearing all around town, marking the start of spring (officially next Tuesday). Right on cue, it looks like we're in store for the perfect weekend weather—sunny and in the low 70s—so enjoy this sweet spot before the heat. As we close out the winter months, I'm thankful for many things, including the fact that California's snowpack is in decent shape. Speaking of gratitude, I want to thank those who contributed to our Show Your Love For CHAT campaign. Providing housing solutions for homeless individuals is our passion, but the reality is that doing so takes money. We rely on our supporters to help sustain our programs, so fundraisers such as this are critically important. To everyone who donated, we appreciate you! Before you head out to enjoy the sunshine, read on for a brief rundown of CHAT news and events, including an evening out at one of Chico's newest breweries.
Sincerely,
-Nicole Drummond, CHAT executive director
Many thanks
Salute to supporters: Thanks to our fantastic donors, CHAT took in over $43,000 during our Show Your Love For CHAT fundraiser! These funds are critical to supporting our existing programs and to our goal of housing an additional 80 people in 2024.
At CHAT, we have a vision of a community where everyone has access to safe, affordable housing. This includes chronically homeless individuals who need supportive services to remain housed.
We are very appreciative of each and every donation! If you missed the fundraiser, you can still help us reach our goal. One great way to do so is to become a sustaining donor, where giving each month—even $5 or $10—buoys our existing programs. Check out our Supporter Hub to sign up or learn more.
Brews for housing
Save the date: Hang out with wonderful CHAT board member Lizzy Young on March 28, from 4 to 8 p.m., as she pours beers at Ramble West Brewing! That's right, Lizzy will be behind the bar and 100 percent of the tips she receives will be donated to CHAT!
Come enjoy the offerings at one of Chico's newest breweries, and support CHAT! Ramble West is located at 849 West 8th Street. See you there!
Everhart update
Made with love: Thank you to everyone who has signed up to make meals for the folks at Everhart Village. As you might imagine, the villagers have been exceedingly heartened to have delicious, home-cooked meals.
Our volunteer cooks get a lot of joy out of making food for others. If that sounds familiar to you, please consider joining this worthy cause. We need meal providers! For more info or to sign up, click here.
Other needs: Patio furniture! Now that the weather is cooperating (read: the sun has arrived!), we need outdoor chairs and tables, so that the villagers can be comfortable while enjoying this gorgeous season.
Think sturdy bistro tables and chairs or other comfy outdoor sets. Donations of gently used or new furniture would greatly benefit Everhart Village! To make a donation, reach out to Rex at our Furniture Warehouse at 530-588-0731 (or email him at furniture@chicohousingactionteam.net).
Keep in mind that Everhart Village was created from scratch. While the facility is now up and running, its maintenance is reliant not only on CHAT staff but also the kind-hearted people who volunteer to make a difference in the lives of formerly homeless individuals with mental health diagnoses.
Another way to help: Check out our Amazon wish list. It's updated frequently, so that our supporters can help with day-to-day necessities, as well as other "wish list" items, including the aforementioned furniture.
Feast on flapjacks!
Eat 'em up: Let CHAT take care of breakfast for you and your family on Easter morning! We'll be serving up flapjacks (plus scrambled eggs, sausage and fruit!) starting at 8 a.m. Sunday, March 31, during Pancakes For CHAT!
That means you can enjoy a big (all you can eat) morning meal without the fuss of cooking and cleaning up, while simultaneously supporting our annual Easter time fundraiser. Fill up early and have the rest of the day to plan dinner, or sleep in and stroll down when you're ready (we'll be serving until 1 p.m.).

Don't miss out on this once-a-year, family-friendly event, which includes an egg hunt and opportunities to get a picture with the Easter Bunny!
Participate in research
Share your views: Chico State student Philip Wysocki is seeking input from the public for a grad project related to homelessness, and he has reached out to CHAT for help. The survey asks participants about their knowledge and opinions on homelessness, and is expected to take 10-15 minutes.
Scan the QR code (or type in the URL) above to take the survey and support student research!
As always, thank you for reading our email news. Please consider forwarding this email to friends, colleagues, and family members who may be interested in helping further local housing solutions.
